FKM is specified for use with air, engine oil, diesel, hydraulic oil, automatic transmission oil, biodiesel, petroleum-based fluids, ester-based lubricants, phosphate ester fluids and silicone fluids. The material is also listed for use with some acids and halogenated hydrocarbons above 100 °C. FKM provides resistance to high temperatures, abrasion and cuts.
The listed incompatible media are amines, brake fluids, engine coolant, non-flammable liquids, ketones, steam and water. Most FKM compounds are not intended for use with coolant or urea.
